Jack Palache - agriculturist

Jack Palache was as significant a player in Jamaica's agriculture as he was in the island's racing

H. H. Cousins, Director of Agriculture, made a

tour of the island in the summer of 1915, to

assess the current state of agriculture in the

island. On the whole he was very pleased with

the production he saw in every parish -

including Manchester, where he visited Jack

Palache's property.

Necessity has compelled the intelligent cultivators in South Manchester to become adepts at dry farming and in this they have been greatly assisted by a succession of specially qualified agricultural instructors, from J.T. Palache down to the present incumbent of the office.
