Kingston Race Course
in the 1890s

The incorporated [1802] government of Kingston, was enabled in 1808 to purchase the piece of land north of the city, and then in the parish of St Andrew, which was already known as 'the Race-Course'. That name certainly suggests that racing had been taking place there from some time earlier, in the 18th century.
