Maverley

From about 1908 to the mid-1920s there was a race course at Maverley, about three miles west of Half-Way-Tree. The property was named for an early settler, John Maverley, in St Andrew in the late 17th century. Under the ownership of Hardware Grier Tregea Drew, Maverley was also a stud farm, in the years before and after the operation of the race course.
